Jonathan’s talk will follow our Group AGM. Jonathan is a hosta fanatic! He has been cultivating and caring for his diverse collection of miniature hostas for years. His passion for these plants has seen him create what is now Hogarth Hostas, showcasing his plants at many prestigious flower shows.

Plants, Murder and Medical Mysteries – Sandy primrose

Sandy trained as a biologist and his career included jobs in academia and industry and latterly as a biotechnology consultant. He regularly lectures on cruise ships and has  written books based on some of these lectures. When at home he is a passionate gardener.

Daffodils and Spring Flowering Bulbs – Ray Broughton

Ray trained at RHS Wisley and is a highly qualified horticulturist, teacher, lecturer and examiner, with over 30 years’ experience of addressing gardening clubs and societies. Ray was a Senior Lecturer at Sparsholt College and was awarded a fellowship by the Chartered Institute of Horticulture for his service to horticulture.

Marina runs Phoenix Perennial Plants which sells excellent hardy plants with an emphasis on plants for all seasons to provide nectar for pollinating insects. Her lectures are always inspiring and full of practical growing tips and she brings plants to talk about and sell.

The Dolomites – High Meadows – Jon Evans

Jon is well known as an enthusiastic amateur photographer. He is actively involved in plant photography, both at AGS shows and in gardens both public and private, and he makes regular trips to view and photograph wild flowers in the UK and abroad.
