All members, especially our overseas members are welcome to attend the annual Study Day (space permitting!). It moves around the UK each year allowing us to explore and visit different gardens which are organised for the afternoon of the study day. The morning includes two lectures and a members’ plant sale which is always popular! If possible, we try to organise garden visits for the preceding and succeeding days so you can make a weekend of it.

For the last couple of years, we’ve arranged a Snowdrop Supper on the prior Sat. evening, a sociable occasion to share with like-minded friends!

Past Events

AGM & Study Day, Sunday, February 11th, 2024

Our 13th Study Day and AGM was held at Stalham High School, NR12 9DG

Refreshments were offered on arrival from 8.30 am quickly followed by the members’ plant sales at 9 am. Then the AGM followed by two talks. Brian Ellis, Norfolk plantsman and incurable galanthophile spoke on “Snowdrops and a Norfolk Connection”. Johan Mens, from northern Belgium, gave us an insight into the snowdrops he specialises in….” Some Belgian Snowdrops…. and my first efforts on hybridising!” Both superb lectures! The afternoon visit to East Ruston Old Vicarage was much enjoyed as was the tea and cake in the cosy warm tea room. The preceding evening’s Snowdrop Supper at Hevingham Village Hall, was popular, a sociable occasion with much snowdrop talk and a lovely atmosphere! A memorable weekend for The HPS Galanthus Group again!

AGM & Study Day, Sunday, February 12th, 2023

Our 12th Study Day and AGM was held at King’s Sutton Millennium Memorial Hall near Banbury. The homemade morning refreshments were much enjoyed and the Members’ plant sales were as popular as ever. Following the AGM (when Lyn Miles became the new chairman, taking over from Gill Hadland), we enjoyed two talks.

Emma Thick, the Deputy Head Gardener at Thenford and Snowdrop ‘Immortal’ introduced us to ‘The Snowdrops at Thenford’ ahead of our afternoon visit.
Anne Repnow then treated us to her fabulous photos of ‘More Snowdrops from Anne’s Garden’. (Anne came over from Germany in 2020 to speak at Tuxford and then presented an excellent Zoom talk in February 2021).

The afternoon visit was to Thenford Gardens and Arboretum, RB Snowdrops had a sales table there – more buying opportunities! The very successful day ended with tea, cake and farewells.
