Plant Fairs
HPS local group fairs are the perfect place to find unusual and garden worthy perennial plants for your garden. The plants may have been raised within a few miles of the fair by enthusiastic Hardy Plant Society members or they may be on sale from specialist nurseries the organisers have invited.
Hardy Planters have a wealth of experience of growing plants so make the most of their expertise at an HPS local group plant fair. They will help you find a plant to suit your garden - be it wet or dry, clay or sandy soil, shady or sunny.
Shows
Open Gardens
Some of our members are happy to welcome you to their gardens, either to raise funds for charity or commercially. This is a good way to visit gardens which may not be generally open and which show how hardy perennials can be used. Those opening their gardens are often happy to talk to fellow-gardeners so you may be able to exchange or gain ideas and information on your visit.
At most of the gardens there are plants for sale, usually grown by the owner, so you can get advice on what will suit your garden conditions.
HPS members who open their garden to the public for charity or as a commercial venture may advertise on our website on this events page. There is no charge for this advertising and you may include a short description and a photo.
Simply send your details to marketing@hardy-plant.org.uk. Please remember to include the dates when you are open and any charge for entry.
By supplying these details, you agree to the HPS publishing your name, address and contact details on the website and you accept that you are not covered by HPS insurance.
Events Coordination
showsandevents@hardy-plant.org.uk
We are the point of contact within the HPS for queries about shows and events, particularly for groups seeking support and advice. So do contact us if you’d like to chat about exhibiting at a show, hosting the ALD/AGM, or perhaps buddying up with another HPS group to learn the ropes. We help groups who would like central finance to exhibit at a show to build a budget; and we maintain a rolling calendar of dates for the newsletter and website. Dates can be pencilled in for a year or more ahead.
So if you're organising a group event which you hope to open to all HPS members, or thinking about organising a national event, please contact us, at least to check the dates and avoid unnecessary clashes.
The HPS Speakers List is for Members Only
The HPS Speakers List is updated regularly and contains details of speakers who have appeared for the HPS, their contact details plus information about their talks.
If you give talks that you think would be of interest to HPS members and would like to be added to the list or you know of any speakers currently on the list who are no longer giving talks or need to be taken off the list, please contact Tricia Fraser, speakers@hardy-plant.org.uk so we can update the list.
