Stopped in my tracks at the Lakeside.

Kalmia latifolia commonly known as the Mountain Laurel comprises 10 species in the genus Kalmia, belonging to the Heather family: Ericaceae, native to Eastern USA.

Kalmia latifolia is a good wildlife value flower for pollinators, rich in nectar to attract bees and other beneficial insects. The dense evergreen foliage provides excellent cover and shelter as nesting habitats for small birds. The Mountain Laurel is included in the RHS plants for pollinators list.

Kalmia latifolia will thrive in Acidic moist well drained soils.
All parts of the plant are highly toxic to humans and animals.
