Conservation Scheme information for Chrysanthemum ‘Beechcroft’



  • ID: P217
  • Introduced: 2021
  • By: Conservation Co-ordinator, Sally Adams
  • Reason: An older, tall, hardy cultivar. Bred by Halls of Heddon in the 1970s and named after Rosie Hardy’s mother’s house.
  • Verified by: Judy Barker, National Collection holder
  • Description: A true herbaceous perennial with duplex, sometimes single flowers.
  • Dimensions: 90cm x 60cm
  • Flowers: Orange-pink buds opening to paler pink
  • Foliage: Mid-green, taking on a red tinge in autumn
  • Soil: Free-draining and moisture retentive
  • Aspect: Full sun
  • Pests: Slugs, eelworm, rust, leaf spot
  • Cultivation: Grows best in a sunny border. Use a general fertiliser in the spring, and may benefit from a light drench of liquid seaweed in June. Hardy to H4 (-10c to -5c / 14f to23f)
  • Propagation: Divide every 3-5 years, or propagate by cuttings.
