  • Reason: Historical interest. Bred by Bonne Ruys in 1927. (founder of the Moerheim Nurseries in Holland).
  • Verified by: not known
  • Description: Herbaceous, clump-forming perennial.
  • Dimensions: 90cm x 30cm
  • Flowers: Lavender flowers with a deeper eye and silvery reverse. Appears puce-coloured in midday heat.
  • Foliage: Green lance shaped leaves. Foliage often poor along lower third of stems.
  • Soil: Any moisture-retentive soil.
  • Aspect: Full sun or part-shade
  • Pests: May be affected by powdery mildew in dry weather. Phlox eelworm.
  • Cultivation: Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering. Cut back to ground level in late autumn.
  • Propagation: Divide established clumps in spring or autumn or take basal cuttings in spring or strike from root cuttings in late autumn.
